Fencing equipment manufacturers and suppliers do a great job keeping us safe as we pursue what could potentially be a very dangerous sport. Our sport is very safe because of their efforts, designs, processes, etc.
The three places I see equipment designers failing on a regular basis are: hook and loop closure, especially gloves; zippers, especially on lames; labels, especially on jackets and pants. Which is why we wind up with jackets that are still in good condition, but won't stay zipped and no one knows what size it is. Of the three, labels in some cases are doing better in the last few years.
I see 115 teams, 3 major local suppliers, lots of tournament fencers, all in the same State. What I don't see is a service for cleaning or repairing fencing gear. I would like to see a fencing family start such a service.
